I work to help clients better understand and accept themselves and their life experiences. Together we explore how your past is impacting your present, so you can ultimately move toward a better future. I work from an attachment and family systems perspective, believing we are a product of our relationships. We experience many wounds from our relationships but through our relationships we can also experience healing. I believe insight and understanding is important to create change and I also give my clients tools they can use in their daily lives so they can navigate their lives and relationships in a more fulfilling way.
I am trained in the Gottman Method for couples therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Reality Therapy and Theraplay. As certified educator, I offer a program for couples called “7 Principles for Making Marriage work” and also a program called “Bringing Baby Home” specifically for couples transitioning to parenthood.
Individuals, couples and families are all welcome. My clients are ages 12 and older and my areas of focus include relationships, infidelity, work-life balance, life transitions, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, cultural identity, spirituality, stress management and women’s issues among others. As a woman of color and having had the experience of living and studying abroad, I am a believer in cultural humility and the importance of cultural context in understanding and treating the client.
